Ursa Compass User Agreement

Last updated March 10, 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to Compass, the AI-powered data investigation tool within Ursa Studio. Before you begin, please review the following terms that govern your use of Compass.

2. How to Contact Us

If you have questions about the Ursa Compass User Agreement, please contact us by email at info@ursahealth.com, by phone at (888)933-7671, or in writing at Ursa Health, Attn: Ursa Compass User Agreement, 3200 West End Ave., Suite 500, Nashville, TN 37203.

3. What Ursa Compass Is

Compass is an AI agent that helps you investigate data within your organization's database. Unlike a simple chatbot, Compass can independently run SQL queries, retrieve metadata about your data model, and present structured findings — all within an interactive session that you direct and oversee.

Compass organizes work into projects (which define the AI's focus area and available tools) and sessions (individual investigation conversations that produce key results). You guide the investigation by providing questions, reviewing the AI's work, and deciding what to do with the findings.

4. How Your Data Is Handled

    • Your data is not used to train AI models. We will never use customer data to train AI models without your express, informed permission.
    • Data minimization. Compass collects and processes only the data necessary for the investigation at hand.
    • Access controls. Access to Compass and the datasets it queries is restricted to authorized personnel within your organization's Ursa Studio instance.
    • Query-scoped access. Compass queries your database using a dedicated database user with permissions defined by your organization's administrators. It does not have access beyond what that user is granted.

5. AI Limitations

Compass is powered by a large language model. While it is a capable tool, it has important limitations that you should understand:

    • AI outputs may be incorrect or incomplete. The AI can misinterpret questions, write flawed SQL, or draw inaccurate conclusions from data. Treat all outputs as preliminary findings, not verified facts.
    • SQL errors can occur. Compass may generate queries that fail or return unexpected results. The system will retry failed queries, but not all errors can be resolved automatically.
    • The AI does not have domain expertise. Compass can analyze data patterns, but it does not have clinical, financial, or operational expertise specific to your organization. It cannot replace the judgment of a trained professional.

6. Human Oversight Required

All Compass outputs require human review before being used for any decision-making.
Compass is designed to assist qualified analysts and decision-makers, not to replace them. Specifically:

    • Review SQL queries and their results before relying on them.
    • Validate key results against your own knowledge of the data and domain.
    • Do not treat AI-generated conclusions as authoritative without independent verification.
    • When Compass proposes a disposition (a structured conclusion), confirm that it accurately reflects the evidence before accepting it.

Decisions with significant operational, clinical, or financial outcomes should always involve appropriate human judgment and expertise.

7. Your Responsibilities

As a Compass user, you agree to:

    • Use Compass within your authorized scope. Only access data and projects that you are authorized to use within your organization.
    • Review and validate results. You are responsible for verifying the accuracy and relevance of Compass outputs before acting on them or sharing them with others.
    • Provide clear direction. Compass works best when guided by a knowledgeable user. Provide specific, well-defined questions and review the AI's approach as it works.
    • Report issues. If Compass produces unexpected, incorrect, or concerning results, report them to your Ursa Studio administrator.

Respect data sensitivity. Treat data surfaced by Compass with the same care and confidentiality standards that apply to your organization's data handling policies.

 8. Compliance and Security

Compass is developed and operated in alignment with recognized industry standards, including HITRUST and SOC 2.
Our AI practices and policies are updated as technology advances and regulatory requirements evolve.

  • All AI development and deployment follows our Responsible Use of AI principles.

 9. Acceptance

By using Compass, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this agreement. You accept that Compass is an AI-assisted tool whose outputs require human review, and you agree to use it responsibly and within the terms described above.
